Why Bloodhound LSR needs a space rocket motor
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.4 года назад
How can a car possibly not be fast enough when it already has a jet engine from a Eurofighter plane? As the Bloodhound chief engineer puts it, the problem with a jet engine is the big frontal area needed for the jet intake. It's more efficient to have a rocket motor. And the world's fastest car cannot use just any rocket motor, it will be using a space rocket motor provided by Nammo. "The rocke...

Ramjet missile propulsion - the biggest invention since the introduction of the jet engine
Просмотров 180 тыс.4 года назад
When the jet engine was invented in the 1040s, it changed aviation forever: Aircraft could fly faster, higher and have more maneuverability. Now ramjet motors have the potential to create an equally fundamental change for rocket motors. Air to air missiles could reach as far as 500km. After more than 150 successful motor tests, the initial developmental test phase is over. Nammo now plans to mo...

Hey nammo, you guys claim to get 150 km out of these shells? I wonder if this XM155 program can extend to battleship shells and give the navy an excuse to recomission the USS iowa to finally kick Zumwalt to the curb!! Those taxpayer dollars were wasted enough on Zumwalt. Haha maybe they might just put a 777 howitzer on the zumwalt though

As a person who did logistics and supported special operations troops, I just don't get warm fuzzies for this. For a specified operation with known situation needs, it could be interesting. But in the theater, I still see the Flash/Bang and Basic Hand Grenade for troops.

Maybe every module should have a spoon and safety pin? Imagine you carry ten modules into a mission, but only five of those are base units. If you need to throw five grenades with less-than-lethal, concussive effects, you'd be left with another five modules you can't use easily. Also, I'm thinking these Base+2 (or longer) demolition charges would also make for great IEDs. Aside from safety reasons, soldiers should be issued with detonating cords so they can ambush armored targets from a safe distance and behind cover.

I have forever thought grenades should also be programible AND modular I mean why not have a program segment that also can ve screwed in alowing the grenade to be used like a claymore type thing where you have a remote detonator? A soldier could then set his/her grenades out in the perimeter and be able to detonate whichever at will....in the morning if not attacked during the night? Simply disable and retrieve the units. Could also have fragmentation SLEEVES and flash sleeves to alter the use....heck you could also have a module the basically turns grenades set up for remote detonation into booby traps like mines this module would simply sense human presense via multiple sensing (body heat AND the presense of metal so an animal would not trip it) All these modules could also work with other ordinance of course mix and match as needed I dont think the electronics and transmitters these days would be at all espensive Could EVEN have a safe mode option where it would not denotate near friendlies (assuming they carry an electronic identifier) Of course if an enemy is using countermeasures cloning such IDs then it would need to be turned off...so many things are possible today! Just takes a bit of imagination
